Community Gardens Rides

Grab an eBike to join one of the Wellington City Council bike tours of community gardens
Please register for the tour first, then book your bike for the same day! Bike pick ups are set 30min prior to the tour start time.
This event is organised by Wellington City Council and the bike tour is led by Pedal Ready
Join a social Ebike tour of four community gardens in east Wellington (Miramar, Melrose, Houghton Valley) on Community Gardens Open Sunday.
Visit these hidden gems while building confidence and skills to travel safely and efficiently by paihikara (bike). Garden details are at https://wellington.govt.nz/community-gardens
Please allow four hours for the ride. Bike pick up times are set 30min prior to the tour start time
These rides are suitable for people who:
- Know how to ride a bike but aren't yet travelling by bike in the city; or
- Those travelling by bike in the city but would like to gain confidence; or
- Those who want to learn how to use new infrastructure.
Open to riders aged 18+ (or 13+ if accompanied by an adult). Families are also welcome to bring younger children on cargo bikes or bike seats provided themselves. Please enquire directly with Switched on Bikes if you'd like to borrow a bike seat for the tour.
An electric bike is strongly recommended to participate in this ride. Thanks to Switched on Bikes and Wellington City Council, you can rent an electric bike for just $20 if you don't have access to one.
After the end of the tour, you're welcome to hold onto the bike and return it to Switched On before 5pm.
