We will pick you up near the port. When you disembark, follow the signs to the Independent Tour Operator Pick Up Area. It’s about a 500m walk from your ship.

At the end of your tour, we encourage you to stay in the capital city and explore more of what Wellington has to offer. Consider bringing what you need to enjoy the rest of your day in the capital city. You can leave your backpack at our store while you are riding.  Our store is centrally located, only a 5 min walk from Te Papa, New Zealand’s national Museum and the Wellington iSite. Local shopping is within walking distance. We will provide you with a city map to enjoy the rest of your day. This ship is within walking distance of the central city and our store.

If you prefer to go straight back to the ship, our guides will ride with you back to the original collection point.

Wellington is surrounded by beautiful hills and a stunning harbour. Our eBike Guided Tour introduces you to Wellington and shows off many of its natural gems. Our modern electric bikes take the hard work out of the hills and any wind along the way. Throughout a 25km ride, your local guide will share insights into Wellington's vibrant city and rich culture.

Meet your guide at our store by Chaffers Marina in central Wellington in time for a 10:00am departure. After listening to the safety briefing, learn how to operate your electric bike, and enjoy time to practice in a car-free space before heading out.

Once you’re comfortable, saddle up for a fun bike tour of Wellington's bays and follow your guide along the Wellington Waterfront. Glide along the seafront, passing the lively harbour and the beaches of Oriental Bay - filled with swimmers and sun-bathers in the summer. Continue along the Miramar Peninsula and leave the bustle of the city behind as you cycle along the scenic coast. Pause along the way at a local café before looping back towards the city.

Finally, set the bikes to 'turbo' to climb up to the lookout point for an unforgettable view over Wellington, the Miramar Peninsula, and the ocean harbour entrance.

The tour is light hearted and fun. We've been running these tours for nearly seven years and they are consistently one of the top rated tours on Trip Advisor in Wellington. 

We use modern Bosch and Shimano 'pedal assist' electric bikes - you pedal and the bikes smoothly 'amplify' your own effort up to 275% (our bikes are not throttle activated). You can choose the level of assistance that suits you - strong riders only use the assistance sometimes and occasional riders keep the power level up high! This means that the group is able to mostly ride at the same speed. The bikes have more than enough battery to ride the whole way on full power.

Your tour ends by 2:00pm (if 10:00am departure time) back at Switched on Bikes in Central Wellington.
*Riders must be 145cm tall (4'8). Riders of this height will just be able to touch their toes to the ground

*Minimum age 12 years, must be accompanied by an adult if under 18.
*For pricing purposes, 'Teenage' is 12 - 17 years old and accompanied by an adult.
*Don't need to be an expert, but must be comfortable riding a bike.
*This route uses shared paths, on-road cycle ways and regular roads.
*A moderate level of fitness is recommended.
*This tour requires a minimum of two people to operate - we'll get in contact prior if we don't reach 2 riders.
